How to Measure Basement Windows
Measuring for basement windows, whether they are hoppers, sliders or any other style is just like measuring for more common window types like double hungs. When ordering windows, most suppliers ask for rough opening or exact size. The process outlined below is for obtaining the rough opening. If you are ordering windows through our site, you need to take your own deductions when entering your size. Most people deduct anywhere from .25-.75" from the rough opening to get the exact size of the window needed. In general it is always better to be too small rather than too big because it is much easier to fill gaps than enlarge an opening.
